New Funding Entitlements

We are excited to share some important updates regarding the expansion of early years funding entitlements by the government:

- From April 2024: Working parents of two-year-olds will be able to access 15 hours of funded childcare.
- From September 2024: 15 hours of funded childcare will be extended to include children as young as nine months for working parents.
- From September 2025: Working parents of children aged nine months and upwards will be entitled to 30 hours of funded childcare per week, right up until their child starts school.

Applying for Funding:
Parents can apply for their 15 hour funding code from 2 January 2024 via the Gov. website. We recommend that parents do not apply earlier than three months before the term in which they become eligible to avoid having to reconfirm their code before the relevant term starts. The government-funded hours are for 15 or 30 hours per week during term time only.

If you have any questions or would like further information about the new entitlements, feel free to
contact us.

Existing Early Years Funding Entitlements:
Families of children receiving certain types of support, and who are not eligible for the new working families 2-year-old funding, may still be eligible for 15 hours of funding from the term after their child turns 2.
Parents can check their eligibility and apply for this type of funding here.

3 & 4 Year Old Funding:
All 3 and 4-year-old children in England and Wales are eligible for 15 hours of funded childcare per week (during term time). This funding is known as the “Universal Entitlement” and eligibility automatically starts from the 1st January, the 1st April, or 1st September following a child’s 3rd birthday. Eligible parents of 3 & 4-year-olds may also be able to claim an additional 15 hours of funded childcare per week, known as the 30 Hours Funding or “Extended Entitlement.” We offer a limited number of fully funded places, which are subject to availability. Please speak to us to discuss availability.

Other Help With Childcare Costs:
Further information on help with childcare costs (including Tax-Free Childcare), eligibility for 2, 3, and 4-year-old funding, and to apply for the “30 Hours Funding” can be found by visiting the government’s website.

Additional Fees:
While government funding significantly offsets childcare costs, there may be additional fees for essential extras, such as all meals and consumables. We are committed to transparency and will provide a detailed breakdown of all costs at your nursery visit.
