Casa Bambino

3 months - 18 months

At Little Acorns Montessori, our Casa Bambino environment is designed to provide infants with a warm, nurturing, and stimulating space inspired by Maria Montessori’s educational philosophy. We create a home-like atmosphere with natural wooden and cloth materials, child-sized furniture, clean surfaces, and soft, soothing music to ensure babies feel safe, cared for, and loved—their ideal home away from home.

Our carefully prepared environment supports two essential needs of infants: a strong, bonded relationship with their caregivers and the development of their growing sense of self and independence. The simplicity and order of Casa Bambino encourage safe exploration, fostering sensory discovery while ensuring a sense of security.

The spacious layout promotes freedom of movement, allowing babies to develop key skills at their own pace. Thoughtfully selected Montessori materials spark curiosity and support early development in movement, language, fine motor skills, and independence. With the gentle guidance and care of our dedicated staff, each child is given the space and encouragement to thrive in a loving and enriching environment.

Infant Community
18 months - 2.5 years

The Infant Community is designed to nurture young children, while providing the physical, emotional, and intellectual stimulus to help them optimise their potential for learning and growth. It is created to enhance each child’s development through the changes and new challenges they will experience throughout the year.

The focus of the infant community is fostering basic trust in the child. The teachers’ response to the infants’ needs, both physical and psychological, conveys the message of safety and acceptance. As the child develops, enormous changes in the child’s ability, as well as an intense need to develop independence, demand a safe environment and an atmosphere that encourages and facilitates the transition from the dependent state of infancy.

High quality materials utilised in the classroom designed by Maria Montessori and other Montessori teachers to give babies and toddlers greater opportunities to explore the world safely, using their senses and learning through their experiences.

Children's House

2.5 years - 5 years

In the Children’s house, each child develops at their own pace in prepared Montessori environment with the specially designed Montessori materials. Children are encouraged not to compare themselves with others but to do their very best every day. There will be an atmosphere of calm as children concentrate on what they are doing for surprisingly long periods. Children work individually, in a group, or with a friend. The morning session should last for a full three hours in which there is no fixed time-table. Groups occur spontaneously rather than at fixed times every day.

Activities cover all aspects of child development, intellectual, physical and social. Each activity is complete in itself, and activities are inter-related. We provide the children with achievable challenges throughout their time at the school, so that self-esteem is nurtured and they are encouraged to even greater exploration and learning.
